The Virginia Dare Academic Award

The Virginia Dare Award began in 1950 to encourage students at the college level to further advance their studies of dairy science and ice cream manufacture. Today, this award is offered annually to one student per university, who in the opinion of his/her instructors has shown outstanding aptitude in food science. The award consists of a plaque bearing the student’s name and university, and a monetary award.

For more information about applying for this award, please contact Kathleen Hinton at KHinton@virginiadare.com

Internship Information and Program

Virginia Dare maintains an excellent internship program. The program provides valuable experience in the food science industry for food science, chemistry and business administration students. The program typically employs students for one semester, and requires an academic project assignment from an accredited institution. Students must provide their own local housing and transportation.

For information about this program, please contact Elisa Perez at EPerez@virginiadare.com.
